Veterinary Diagnostic Centers offers a variety of diagnostic services for dogs. We provide detailed assessments with a focus on accuracy and comfort, creating a calm, caring environment to support your dog’s well-being throughout the process.
Ultrasound Diagnostic Services
We offer a variety of ultrasound services for dogs that provide real-time, high-resolution images of your pet’s organs, allowing us to accurately detect and monitor various medical conditions. Ultrasound options include:
- Abdominal ultrasounds for a multitude of concerns
- Cardiac ultrasound (echocardiogram) to assess heart structure and function
- Thoracic ultrasound for lung and chest evaluation (not available at all locations)
- Thyroid ultrasound for thyroid-related issues
Comprehensive Cardiology Consultation
Using our diagnostic tools, we can detect heart disease early and develop personalized treatment plans. Through consultations with veterinary cardiologists, we provide in-depth evaluations of your dog’s heart health. Services include:
- Electrocardiograms
- Echocardiograms
- Blood pressure readings
- Review of thoracic radiographs
- Laboratory sample collection and submissions (additional costs apply)
Comprehensive Internal Medicine Review
If your dog needs a deeper assessment and you’re facing long waits for a specialist, we can help. This service includes an ultrasound and a full case review by a board-certified internist, considering the patient’s entire medical history. This is especially useful for protracted or challenging cases where the primary veterinarian could benefit from guidance by an internal medicine specialist.
Laboratory Services
At your veterinarian’s request, we collect and submit a variety of laboratory samples to assist with diagnosis and treatment. In some cases, we perform ultrasound-guided fine needle aspirates and cytology, targeting specific organs to gather cells for detailed analysis, which can help achieve a more accurate diagnosis. We use the Vetscan Imagyst to submit tissue samples, allowing us to obtain vital results within hours instead of days.
Pricing of laboratory services is available upon request as there are so many available we can’t include them all on our website!
Holter Monitor Testing (Dogs only)
For dogs with suspected or known cardiac arrhythmias, we offer Holter monitor testing, a non-invasive way to track your pet’s heart rhythms over a 24-48 hour period. This allows us to detect arrhythmias and other heart abnormalities, providing a more comprehensive assessment of your dog’s heart health. These reports include therapeutic recommendations.
Video Capsule Endoscopy (Dogs only)
Video Capsule Endoscopy (VCE) is a safe, non-invasive way to look inside your dog’s stomach and intestines. This innovative procedure involves your dog swallowing a small camera capsule—about the size of a large vitamin—that captures thousands of detailed images as it travels naturally through the digestive system. And the best part is that no anesthesia is necessary!

I had a positive experience bringing my 12-year-old dog here for an ultrasound after some concerning bloodwork. The entire process was simple and seamless. Communication was excellent, and they coordinated directly with my regular vet both before and after the appointment, so they had all of my dog’s information going in and my vet received the results and recommendations afterward. I had the results within 24 hours.
I especially appreciated being able to stay with my dog during the ultrasound. He is not a fan of being on his back or held in place, so being able to sit with him, pet his head and reassure him throughout the procedure made a huge difference for both of us. Everyone working with him was kind, patient and reassuring, and they made sure to tell him repeatedly what a good boy he was—which, obviously, he is.
Overall, this was about as easy and reassuring an experience as I could have hoped for when having a diagnostic procedure done on an older dog. I’m really happy with the care my dog received and would recommend them.
