Jeff Bloomberg has been hanging out in veterinary hospitals since volunteering in the summer of 1995. He graduated from the University of Illinois with his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2001 and, soon after that, married his classmate, Dr. Katie Bloomberg. Together the Bloombergs operated their own animal hospital for over a decade, and since that time, Jeff has provided consulting services for veterinary hospitals, veterinarians, and practice ownership groups. These varied roles within the profession have given Dr. Bloomberg a deep understanding of the needs of our patients and how some of those were being underserved, including ultrasound and access to veterinary specialists.
Since childhood, Katie Bloomberg knew she wanted to care for animals and has never wavered. Together, she and Dr. Jeff Bloomberg built one of the most respected animal hospitals in the Chicago area, winning the Daily Herald Reader’s Choice Best Animal Hospital in 2016. These days, because of the lack of available veterinarians, Dr. Katie sees patients at several different area hospitals filling in for short-staffed practices. Dr. Katie is very proud of the development of Veterinary Diagnostic Centers as she knows that there is a need that is not being met for our community’s pets.
Kirsten is a Certified Veterinary Technician, having graduated from Joliet Junior College in 2012. While she has vast clinical experience working with dogs and cats, exotics, and zoo animals, her skill set and passion also expand into business development, recruiting, and marketing. She is thrilled to be a part of the incredible VDC team and looks forward to providing a fantastic ultrasound experience for our patients, clients, and referring partners.
Kirsten shares a home with her wonderful husband, four kids, three dogs (Winnie, Phoebe, and Lincoln), Crested Gecko Jasper, and Mexican Black Kingsnake Flicker. In her free moments, she can be found immersed in nature, seeing the latest movies, and going out to eat.
Anna is a Certified Veterinary Technician who graduated from Michigan State University in 2007. Her professional career has been focused on the specialty and emergency fields within veterinary medicine. As Anna’s career has advanced, she has also taken on management responsibilities leading a team of veterinary technicians and assistants. As a manager, Anna is most proud of her track record of implementing operational improvements and assisting her team’s professional development. She lives in the suburbs with her husband, children, and pooch, Cheddar Biscuit.
Jennifer is a highly accomplished Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with over 20 years of experience in the field. In addition to scanning patients herself, Jennifer is an instructor at a local college teaching the next generation of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Even though Jennifer is at a point in her career where she is teaching others, she has never lost her desire to continue to grow as a sonographer. This passion has led Jennifer to expand into veterinary sonography and earn a master’s degree in Radiologic and Imaging Sciences! At home, Jennifer is a mom to two sons, two dogs, and five cats.
Blanca is a registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer currently employed at Veterinary Diagnostic Centers in Chicago.
She graduated from Triton College in 2017 and holds RDMS credentials in OB/Gyn and Abdomen. Blanca has a deep love for animals and feels honored to be part of the healthcare team that provides vital answers and resources when they are needed most, believing that every animal deserves the best care possible.
In her free time, she enjoys spending quality moments with her husband, their two children, two cats, and a dog, all of whom she considers part of her family. Additionally, Blanca appreciates spending time in nature and cherishes every opportunity to watch sunsets.
Tammy has worked in the veterinary / animal welfare field for 25 years. She has a passion for pets and enjoys helping people take care of their furry family members. She is very happy to be part of the VDC family as a sonographer and continuing to provide this valuable diagnostic service in a Fear Free environment. She lives with her family in the western suburbs and enjoys travel, trying new things, and long walks with her dog, Cayla.

Kimberly is a CVT with a passion for the veterinary profession. With 15 years of experience, she has developed a reputation for animal care and Fear Free approaches. Kimberly holds a degree in Biology and Veterinary Technology, which laid the foundation for her career. When not at her desk, she enjoys volunteering and spending time with her lab mix Topaz, which often inspires her work.
Genesis is proud to be part of a team that is transforming the veterinary diagnostic field. Born and raised in Chicago, she has had a love for animals since childhood. With nearly a decade of experience in the veterinary profession, Genesis dedicates her free time to her Golden Retriever mix rescue, Lilah, as well as enjoying moments with friends and family.
Ray has loved animals for as long as he can remember. He’s been working in the veterinary field since 2017, starting out in kennels and working his way up as he works toward becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician.
He’s got a soft spot for reptiles—especially his ball python, Sully. Outside of work, you’ll likely find him exploring the outdoors with his American Bully, Frankiestein.
Peter Cruzado brings over 25 years of dedicated experience to the veterinary field, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of clinic operations through his journey across various roles.
From his early days as a receptionist to his tenure as a practice manager, Peter has cultivated a deep appreciation for the well-being of animals and the smooth functioning of veterinary practices. He holds a special place in his heart for senior pets, recognizing their unique needs and the joy they bring. Outside his professional life, Peter is a devoted pet parent to two beloved felines, Izabella and Christina.
He recently celebrated a significant personal milestone, marrying in July of 2024. Peter’s extensive experience, compassionate nature, and commitment to animal care make him a valuable asset to the veterinary community.
Erika moved to Chicago when she was six years old from Cali, Colombia. She has worked in the veterinary field for more than 20 years, and is excited to be part of such an amazing team here at VDC.
Erika understands how stressful vet visits can be for both clients and their pets, and she strives to alleviate that tension with her friendly and compassionate approach.
In her spare time she enjoys traveling, watching movies, and hanging out with her spouse, two children, turtle and her five cats.
